Chocolate cake :)

Today for cooking me and my partner made chocolate cake for cooking in Mrs Tuipulotu class.

Ingredients: 

1- 2 c of self Rasing flour

2- 1 c of sugar

3- 1/2 c of oil

4- 1 c of milk 

5- 1 egg

6- 1/4 c of cocoa

Chocolate cake steps:

Combine all the ingredients together and mix well until its a smooth texture. The next step is to cut the baking paper into a circle or square and then you place the baking paper sheet into the baking tin. When you're done you then pour the mixture into the tin and set your stove to 180° and place your chocolate cake into the oven and set it for 15 minutes!

Culture Groups!

So this year on term 4, we are now starting to practice our culture group. Which are Samoan, Tonga, Maori and Cook Islands. Around week 5 last term the Tongan culture groups started before all the other groups. But this term the Samoan and Maori culture groups are going to start around week 4 or 6. For culture groups mostly some of Rm 12 and 11 gets nervous and confused. So this year I hope it goes really well!  

Manaiakalani film fest.

Yesterday around 12:04 p.m. we were all lucky to take a bus to Sylvia park, to go and watch all the Manaiakalani school films at the Hoyts. Ones we arrived inside the cinema we all waited quietly for about 5 minutes for all the schools to arrive. Most of Manaiakalani films were interesting and really creative. I was completely nervous for our movie to begin. Overall I had a great time watching all the Manaiakalani movies!

Glass Work

Today we went to tech and once we arrived there I knew that we were about to do a new technology. Which was making stuff out of glass, in Mr Grundy work shop. We were about to make our objects, before that Mr Grundy showed all of us an video of how to start off drawing our designs. Before we were about to start, Mr Grundy warned all of us lots of rules before we start. 

Practicing Cross Country.

This week we started practicing Cross Country on Monday to Friday every week for our daily fitness in the morning. Every morning we have to run two laps around the streets, but for the Yr 8 and Yr 7 finals we have to run about three to four laps around. Today was our first time running which we did really well for the first day, but it was tiring. I hope we get better than before. 
 

Orienteering

Yesterday after morning tea,  was exited to go orienteering to do a fun activity with the whole room 12. After 20 minutes of play it was time to do orienteering, everyone line up to be given each a clip card and a map. When it was time for me to start I looked confused so I had to tell Meana to help me. When I was done with the first course which was course 2, I moved on to the next course until it finished. It was tiring but fun!!
     

Paper Mache

Yesterday between morning tea, we went to tech. after 3 mins, we arrive to Tamaki collage then we all head to graphics. Then we started to get the equipment all ready. Mr Pineda gave us all a balloon each to make our Mache. Once we left our Mache to get dry for about one week an a half.  We came back to technology to check if our Mache was dry. Most of our Mache was dry and wasn't, so I decided to add more layers of glue and paper. So I had to leave my Mache for another week to dry.    

Pasifika performance

Today after morning tea we went to the multipurpose to perform our song from the movie Moana How Far I'll Go. Every class had to come up with an item to perform which relates to our Pasifika Study. Most of the performances were the classes singing, for room 6's performance they chose to do a cat walk as they showcased their Tongan and Samoan wear. Once there performance were done the audience gave them a clap. I really enjoyed watching every classes performances.  

How to make Tapa Cloth.

1. First you need to peel the inner bark off the mulberry tree. Once you have peeled off the inner bark, then wind the bark into curls then hang them into the sun to dry. Next beat the strips off the bark by one at a time till it is flat.

2. After you have done beating the bark, then soak the bark in hot water till it gets soggy. When you have tooked out the wet bark, then leave it to dry outside in the sun. Before applying all the layers you have to put the tapa on the tutua then you start beating the bark more with the Ike.

3. When you had done adding all the bark, then you lay the tapa on the ground then start working by rubbing the umea on each layer before putting all the layers together.

4. After putting all the layers together then lay it outside to get dry. Now once you think your tapa is fully dry. You then get the koka tree and Squeezed all the juice out and then mix it with the coconut milk to make the dark brown color dye for your tapa.

5. Then use an old woody pandanus seed for your paint brush, then you start drawing your pattern on you own Tapa.

Waitangi Falls turns into raging torrent

Rural South Auckland's Waitangi falls has turned into raging torrent as the wild weather continues to lash New Zealand.The video showed the murky brown water hammering down, sweeping debris away and sending spray into the air.

Graphics

On Tech day, the Yr 8 change Tech class. So we went to Mr Pineda to do Graphics. Once we got there we started to draw our own design about fruits that we can think of. When I had finish my design, Mr Pineda put them all up on the board. We also get points only if we behave, be reasonable and be respectful. Last year for Graphics I got the highest points in Mr Pineda class, but now I really don't know who got the highest points.  

Our Last Tech.

Last Wednesday, We went to Tamaki Collage. Once we got there I was partnered up with Meafou, and we made Blueberry Muffins. We had to preheat the Oven to 180c degrees, once we got all of the ingredients ready, Meafou and I had turns mixing the mixture. Once we finished cooking our Blueberry Muffins we took it to School and ate it from there. They tasted delicious!!

Get ready for heavy rain as the cyclone heads towards to New Zealand, people are warned to prepare for flooding.  Auckland should expect the heaviest rain on Thursday night. When the cyclone hits New Zealand, it expected to bring heavy rain and heavy winds. New Zealand , as up to 200mm of rain is expected to fall around Nelson.

$7 for a head of lettuce as post-cyclone vege price hike continues

Shoppers are paying up to 7$ for lettuce. Cauliflower were also pricey, selling for $7.99 at one New World and $6.49 at Auckland Countdown. At New World Victoria park, iceberg lettuces cost $7 for a head wrap or $6.99 unwrapped. Bagged lettuce was also expensive, between $4 and $6. The humble cabbage was selling for 6.99 at New World, but it only $2.50 at Countdown.

Fire guts central Christchurch flat, injuring one person

                                 

A fire that gutted a central Christchurch flat was allegedly lit by the woman who lived there. The front unit of the barbadoes St property was ablaze when emergency services arrived about 8:25am on Sunday. The woman was taken to Christchurch hospital where she was treated for very minor, which the police said. Neighbors reported hearing bangs before going outside and seeing the street filled with firefighters, police and the ambulance staff. They arrested the woman and she'll appear in court on Monday.

Pilot watches $2m helicopter pulled from Porirua Harbour

The Helicopter that crashed into Porirua Harbour on Tuesday has been recovered from the water. The pilot Rick Lucas, who was in the aircraft when it crashed, and his 13 year old son Bryan watched it as it came in. As the helicopter drop to the water, their were floating attached blow up bags on the side of the helicopter. Mr Lucas confirmed he will appear in court later this month on a charge of careless use of an aircraft.

Residents of four Edgecumbe streets allowed home.

People who live in 46 houses in Southeaster Edgecumbe are being allowed to return home. The residents will have water services, but will have to use portaloos. There was a measure of relief on Sunday for some people who live in the drier areas of the flood ravaged bay of plenty township, as they were allowed behind the cordon to visit their homes for the first time. Sixteen hundred people fled the bay of plenty town on Thursday in a hurry when a flood-wall gave way.

Had calls from a weird overseas number lately?

If you received a phone calls from an unknown overseas number yesterday, you weren't the only one. In the past few days there's been an increase in attempts at a spam technique known Wangiri. News-hub has been contacted by dozens of people over the past 48 hours who have received missed calls, usually from numbers beginning with 0088 or 002, originating in chad, a landlocked country in North Central Africa.

Cooking at Technology.

Last Week Wednesday Yr 8 and Yr 7 went to tech, and made homemade mince pies. So I was team up with Athens and Meafou. When we had finish cooking our pies Mrs Tuipulotu says to us to clean the kitchen before we head back to School. 

Robbie Rakete

Yesterday after morning tea, we went to a special assembly. To go and see Robbie Rakete, that was acting for the brown Wiggle and also he spent 14 years hosting a high-Rating breakfast on Auckland's Mai FM radio. Also he was talking about his favorite book Astesix and the golden sickle, that was made in the olden days.
