Sophie Pascoe wins gold.

Swimmer Sophie pascoe has won a gold medal with a world record time in the women's 200 meter. Sophie pascoe swam a time of 2.24.90 minutes, defending her Olympic title from London four years ago. It's Sophie pascoe third medal of the Rio Paralympics and she still has another two events to compete in. Sophie will go into those races as the defending Olympic Champion.

Lisa Carrington leads NZ closing ceremony.

Lisa Carrington has lead the most successful Olympic team in New Zealand's history into Maracana Stadium for the closing ceremony at Rio game. The kayaker was chosen for honor after she became the first New Zealand female athlete to win two medals. We won 18 medals four of them gold and are set to officially finish 19th on the medal table.

Ruapotaka Mini Olympics.

Last Week on Friday Ruapotaka School had our first 2016 Mini Olympics and it started with an opening ceremony outside room 12 and 11.

There were 16 teams. Our team Russia got called to go and do our first mini Olympics activity. It was the gumboot throw on top of the field. Russia was against South Africa. We got to play four different events. At the closing ceremony our teachers were giving out the gold, silver and bronze medals to the people that did well.
