Four rescued from flooded river near Christchurch.

Canterbury fire crews rescued four people on Saturday night after a four-wheel van was trapped in the river, near Rangiora. The group, in their 20s tired to cross the river at about 11:30pm when they and another vehicle got stuck in rising floodwaters. A policeman spoke to a 22-year-old driver and tested over the blood alcohol limit. His alcohol limit was over 400 micro grams per litre of breathe . He will appear in court on the 24th of November in Christchurch. Mr Peters says the group were treated by paramedics.

The person responsible for the emergency stop button on the dreamworld ride that killed four people was an 18-year-old on her first day on the job. however it is also understood the water levels on the ride were lower than normal and a sensor should have triggered an emergency stop but didn't. Two men and two women died on the river rapids ride on Tuesday when a raft flipped over. Two children survived the accident.

Junior Doctors Strike

Junior doctors have begun strike action over a dispute about the number of hours they work and the number of days in a row they have to work. The junior doctors say that the current situation is unsafe, both for them and their patients. Junior doctors work an average of 53 hours a week. Junior doctors have walked off the job at public hospitals across the country 7am Tuesday and wont return to work until 7am Thursday.

Botanic Garden.

  Botanic Gardens.
Tomorrow on our trip to Auckland botanic gardens I really want to see the Native forest cause I want to go for a long walk alongside streams to see the epiphytic orchid plant that grows upon another plant. Also I want to see a tree fern groves plant and a palm tree. I want to see the fern groves the most because I haven't seen one before!

New Zealanders select Mayors

New Zealanders have elected their mayors and city. The total result from the local body elections have been very interesting around the country. In Auckland Phil Goff has won the mayoral race run New Zealander's largest city and has told that he wants to cut spending of 3 to 6 percent across the council organisation.

Today our class had to make our own Mascot by using Sumo paint. My Mascot Represent the Rio Olympics and he is a Swimmer.

Queenstown Winter Festival.

On Friday Night there was massive festival fireworks displayed over Queens town Bay, and performances from local and Visiting bands. The Festivities and Carnival will continue for ten more days.   The warm temperature had got higher while the cold air had gone away.

The prime Minster of New Zealand visited Fiji last week. He needed to have a conversation with their leader.  Their Prime Minister defended the fact that he has banned some New Zealand media reporters from entering Fiji.

Leopard Escapes Zoo in Utah, USA.

A leopard had escaped from his enclosure in Hogle Zoo at Salt Lake City, Utah. Hundreds of zoo visitors took shelter inside buildings such as cafes or gift shops and Other. The 4-year-old female leopard was found by Visitors at the zoo about an hour later sleeping on a high outdoor ledge in a public area .

Matariki.

Matariki is a Maori name for a small cluster of stars. Matariki is all about helping and  celebrating Maori New Year. For many Maori the first New Moon after the rise of Matariki signals the start of New Year celebrations. Matariki has always been an Important time in the Maori calendar.

Circus lions return to home.

Their were thirty-three circus lions that were returned home from Peru and Colombia. It was organised by Animal defenders. Most of the lions claws had been removed. One of the lions had lost one of their eyes. The thirty-three lions will be returned to Africa by next week after spending years in South America.

Moa bones found in South Canterbury

On the South Island Moa bones were found on a beach. The bones that were found were both female and male bones. 

As well there was a smaller bone from a much smaller male. They were found in some soil. There were about 40 bones that were found.

Digital art.

This is my sumo paint art that we did on Thursday afternoon. We used the sumo paint programme and drew a Maori pattern. 
I searched online images and found a pattern I liked. Then I  drew the pattern that I wanted. It looks good.

Waitangi Day.

On waitangi day me, my uncle and my two little brothers went to McDonald's to buy them  frozen coke and I had a frozen pineapple. When we ordered our frozen coke we got given a number to wait for to come up on the TV. While we were waiting me and my brohers went and played on the park and my uncle was watching us and waiting for the number to pop up on the TV.
