Waitangi Falls turns into raging torrent


Rural South Auckland's Waitangi falls has turned into raging torrent as the wild weather continues to lash New Zealand.The video showed the murky brown water hammering down, sweeping debris away and sending spray into the air.

Cyclone Donna leftovers bring heavy rain to New Zealand

Get ready for heavy rain as the cyclone heads towards to New Zealand, people are warned to prepare for flooding.  Auckland should expect the heaviest rain on Thursday night. When the cyclone hits New Zealand, it expected to bring heavy rain and heavy winds. New Zealand , as up to 200mm of rain is expected to fall around Nelson.

Residents of four Edgecumbe streets allowed home.


People who live in 46 houses in Southeaster Edgecumbe are being allowed to return home. The residents will have water services, but will have to use portaloos. There was a measure of relief on Sunday for some people who live in the drier areas of the flood ravaged bay of plenty township, as they were allowed behind the cordon to visit their homes for the first time. Sixteen hundred people fled the bay of plenty town on Thursday in a hurry when a flood-wall gave way.

Four rescued from flooded river near Christchurch.

Canterbury fire crews rescued four people on Saturday night after a four-wheel van was trapped in the river, near Rangiora. The group, in their 20s tired to cross the river at about 11:30pm when they and another vehicle got stuck in rising floodwaters. A policeman spoke to a 22-year-old driver and tested over the blood alcohol limit. His alcohol limit was over 400 micro grams per litre of breathe . He will appear in court on the 24th of November in Christchurch. Mr Peters says the group were treated by paramedics.
